Week 3

Play time with our growing boys!

A few moments from week three felt just as surreal as the day the twins were born!  Their social security cards arrived in the mail, and Kyle and I took our first outing together: To the bank to open Aiden and Owen's savings accounts!  We even made it to Red Rambler for coffee on the way to the bank while Grandpa and Nana Patty watched the boys for the first time without us there!  I was so excited to open Aiden and Owen's savings accounts.  Throughout my life, my family members would buy savings bonds for me for Christmas and birthdays, and I am so thankful they invested in my life rather than buying me toys or other material items that would have been used for only a short period of time.  It was wonderful to have the money saved when I went to college, renovated a condo, and put our first down payment on a house.  I hope we can provide the same for our boys by investing in their future and teaching them the value and reward of saving money.

It is fun to watch each of their personalities evolve before our eyes.  Aiden continues to be such a sweet, smiley baby, but as he grows both older and bigger in size, it is fun to see him become louder and stronger.  Owen is sweet, too, but we love how he grunts and kicks with quite a bit of power!  We are enjoying more play time with both of them, and they continue to amaze us by how they grow!

Daddy took the twins with him to the basement for their first "work out."

Their first piggy banks!!!  Thank you Grandpa Patty for giving us our first coins: A half dollar, a silver dollar, and a shiny new penny!

Week three also proved that life is undoubtedly better and more complete with Aiden and Owen in it.  During the first two weeks at home, my mind continually raced with questions like "How will I ever be able to do this?" and "What's going on here?!?!"  Throughout the past week, I have found more opportunities to just play with the boys or to just simply hold them rather than running around the house madly like I'm finishing another half marathon (I usually only have one-hour pockets of time here and there).  During those times, I've been able to replace the questions with wonder and awe and assurance that I am doubly blessed!  When I recognize how amazing and awesome it is to be Aiden and Owen's mother, I find a little more hope and confidence that I can do this twin mommy life!  (I will read these last few sentences a hundred times between now and 7:15 tomorrow morning when Kyle heads back to work).
