At 3:50 p.m. on Friday afternoon, we returned home, walking through the door as a family of four!
We cannot be any more thankful to have our twin boys, both healthy and (relatively) happy (Owen can be a stinker :) )! Many doctors and nurses told us we could have gone home on Thursday, but we did not want to rush out with all of the great care we received. It ended up being the best decision, too, as it gave time to ensure Owen's bilirubin's level evened out. We loved our nurses and doctors at Toledo Hospital, and they were so kind to us when we left. Almost all of them made it a point to see us and hug us as they sent us off! Our twins were born at 37 weeks and 1 day (a big goal for me was to make it to at least 36 weeks), and we only spent four nights and five days at the hospital. I cannot believe how blessed we are!
Coming home of course has been emotionally overwhelming for me. I could not be happier to be home, but taking care of two newborns without the help of the nurses felt intimidating to me. With great help though, I can say honestly the first night, despite my new mommy concerns, went very well, and Kyle and I are definitely adjusting this afternoon as we've spent time truly just the four of us.
We are so thankful to our wonderful family and friends for their love and support!!! Thank you for the messages and most importantly, the prayers! Godmother Meggan and Godfather Jason did an awesome job making our Homecoming beautiful and memorable with the nautical boy decor! Our sweet neighbor walked in with dinner at 3:30 this afternoon, and so many friends have given us wonderful gifts or been sure we have been well-fed over the last few weeks or are prepared to be in the weeks to come - Katie Harmon, Kate Zimmerman, Haley Mealer, Caitlin Roth, and the Just family. Of course, the four new grandparents have gone above and beyond to ensure we are comfortable!
For tomorrow's post, I will share more on our journey that led us to the hospital on Monday morning, and throughout the week, I will share more about the birth story and hospital stay!
